Do you remember feeling so excited and full of ideas when you started that new project? Do you remember energetically diving into the research, planning, looking at other Instagram accounts  for inspiration and slowly but surely… things start to unravel? Do you remember sitting in front of your computer frozen, completely overwhelmed, feeling like you’re not good enough and doubting every choice you’ve made so far? Yeah, me too.

We’ve all been there and if you find yourself right now playing that comparison game, I’m sharing 3 simple ways to help you get out of it.

Three simple ways to end the comparison game in your business

  1. Limit your scrolling. Allow yourself only 15 minutes to binge on Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration and once the 15 minutes are up (use a timer if you have to), gently put your phone away and move to pen and paper to further develop your ideas. While creative accounts can be a great source of inspiration, it can also limit your own wonderful ideas.
  2. Unfollow any accounts that do not serve you. If any account on social media makes you question yourself, your talents, or just makes you feel bad (intentionally or unintentionally) simply unfollow them. Out of sight, out of mind.
  3. Practice gratitude.  Any time you catch yourself comparing or just feel icky, immediately stop what you’re doing and write down three things you are grateful for in your life. Practicing gratitude allows you to lean into positive thoughts and emotions.

I hope these 3 simple practices help you move away from self-doubt and closer to what you know you were meant to do.
